Happily Ever After {a scrapbook layout}

If you're coming over her from the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog, welcome!  For Challenge #3, we were asked to make a layout with confetti.  Talk about a challenge?!  Since I rarely (um...never) use confetti in my layout or projects, the challenge really forced me to think outside the box and inspired me to create this layout.

This is a layout celebrating the wedding of my dear friends, Erica and Jiunwei.  Our family had the most memorable and special memories crying during the ceremony, laughing during the toasts and dancing well past midnight.  These snapshots representing moments throughout the wedding (taken by my uber talented friend, Henry) certainly capture the joy and love I remember so fondly.  So when trying to come up with a design for this layout, I thought to myself, what says "YIPEE" more than some confetti!

I was initially inspired by this layout I saw in the Two Peas in a Bucket gallery.  Using the same idea behind the large confetti-filled "10" in Lisa's layout, I die cut a bride and groom silhouette.  I then adhered part of a page protector behind the die-cut paper and then sewed around it to create the perfect pocket for all of the confetti.  I made the confetti using bits and pieces of scraps from my January Counterfeit Kit and a Martha Stewart heart border punch.  If you look closely, you can see little paper hearts in that pile of confetti!

I die cut the "Happily Ever After" title using an image I found in the Silhouette online store.  (More about my new and awesome Silhouette Cameo another day.)  I also covered the patterned paper (originally colored white, blue and yellow) used for the "Ever After" words in a pink Colorbox Chalk Ink.

I didn't add too many other embellishments to this page other than some Sassafras Blooms and American Crafts washi tape.

Finally, I printed my journaling on vellum and then adhered it directly onto the page.

Project Life - Week 1

Here are my Project Life pages for Week 1 (January 1 - 8).  If you're unfamiliar with Project Life, you can read more about it here.  I used various tapes, die cuts and stickers from my January Counterfeit Kit to embellish the photos and journaling spots.

Method wise, I notice that it's easiest for me to tag photos for the album as I upload them using Picassa.  I try to print the photos weekly and just embellish and journal after I figure out which photos go where.  I'm also loving the use of the 8.5 x 11 page protectors for various kinds of memorabilia.  

Weekly Highlights:  Charlotte sleeping for most of the flight from Chicago to Providence.  Hiking around Sachuest Point National Refuge.  Flying Charlotte's princess kite on Easton's Beach.

Vanlikethecar Designs - Some New Items in the Etsy Shop

Lots of exciting news and projects to share from Vanlikethecar Designs.

1.  Teaming up with Addie B Designs.  First and foremost, we have teamed up with Addie B Designs (maker of gorgeous baby bibs, burp cloths, booties, and headbands) to bring you these adorable baby greeting cards.

  

Here are some bib-shaped greeting cards that can either be personalized with baby's sweet name or embellished with the perfect welcome baby sentiment.

 

These onesie-shaped cards are just beyond adorable with a little stamped character to perfectly match your Addie B bib or burp cloth.  These can also be personalized.

And here are the most delicate die-cute word cards.  Cards can feature any word, sentiment or name.  

 

2.  Owl Hair Clip Valentines.  I added a new item to the etsy store - these valentines that are embellished with a owl hair clip.  The inside of the cards include a coordinating owl sentiment as well.  For more details, make sure to check them out here.  

 

3.  Birthday Banner {with snowflakes}.  We always love to make custom banners to perfectly coordinate with your party.  One of our customers sent me this photo of the plates and napkins for her daughter's snowflake themed birthday party.

Pulling inspiration from those colors, this is the banner we made! 

I especially love how the snowflake stamped on each circle in a gorgeous silver ink made the banner really pop.

For purposes of counting towards 100 projects, that's 6 baby greeting cards, 12 valentines (which I will count as 1/3 of a project), and 1 banner.  Grand total...
